We publish practical guides for people who want to visit, study, work in or simply understand the eight states of the region: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim.
About us: why Frontier News exists
Good information about the Northeast is hard to find. Permit rules change, roads close with the monsoon, and festival dates move from year to year. Many answers online are outdated, copied from other sites or written mainly to sell tour packages. As a result, travellers often arrive without the right permit, or plan a route that is closed that season.
We started Frontier News to fix that. Our goal is simple: one clear, up-to-date place where you can plan a trip, check a rule or learn something new about the region. We review every guide regularly and update it whenever official rules change.

How we research our guides
Our articles are written and edited by the Frontier News Desk, a small editorial team focused only on Northeast India. We base factual claims on primary sources wherever we can. These include state tourism departments, official permit portals such as the Arunachal Pradesh eILP portal, government notifications, and published schedules from airlines, railways and bus operators.
Furthermore, we update guides when rules change rather than waiting for readers to notice. Permit and festival pages are reviewed at least once a year. Consequently, the date at the top of each guide tells you exactly how current it is.
What makes us different
We focus on one region, so we can go deeper than general travel sites. We also write for real decisions: which permit you need, how long a road journey takes, what a trip will cost and which month suits your plans. In addition, we keep our advice independent. We never accept payment for positive coverage.
