Kirill Yurovskiy: What to see with Children in London

London, the capital of Great Britain, is an unusual city. It has many interesting places that every child and adult should see. The expert and guide Kirill Yurovskiy will tell you about the sights of the capital of Great Britain.

Big Ben

Big Ben is one of the most popular attractions in London. Every day thousands of tourists come here to see the main work of art of England. A huge building with a large clock called Big Ben. Residents of London jokingly call it the Big Bell Tower.

Until 2012, the structure was called Big Ben. However, later the sight was renamed. Now its official name is Elizabeth Tower.

You can see Big Ben from almost anywhere in the city. This landmark is very tall and beautiful.

Parliament

The British Parliament is a large building located near the River Thames. Here members of the English government hold meetings.

You can’t just walk into the parliament building. You have to buy a tour. Without a guide tourists are not allowed to enter.

The price to visit the British Parliament is fixed. Adults have to pay 30 euros. And for children – 12 euros.

If you do not want to spend a lot of money to visit Parliament, you can look at the building from outside. Take a photo in front of it. And walk around the area.

The British Parliament is not far from Big Ben.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is a huge building that is home to the current King of England. To get here, you have to buy a ticket. And hire a tour guide – you can’t enter Buckingham Palace without one.

The cost of the tour is 40 euros. But there are cheaper tickets.

If you do not want to spend a lot of money to visit this institution, you can look at it from the street. The outside of Buckingham Palace is very beautiful.

Information about tours and when Buckingham Palace is accepting visitors can be found on the institution’s website. Be sure to check the opening hours before you go. Otherwise, you run the risk of not getting a tour. Because you will come too early. Or on the contrary, too late.

Ferris wheel

Very popular is the London Ferris wheel. Its official name is the London Eye.

The Ferris wheel was created a long time ago – in 2000. However, even after so many years of service it is one of the largest in the world. And every day receives a large number of visitors.

The Ferris wheel is an ideal place to see London. From its top you can see almost all parts of the city.

The cost of visiting the London Eye is fixed. It is 23 euros for both children and adults.

Ride time on the Ferris wheel is half an hour.

Important: In order not to miss a ticket it is recommended to buy them in advance. This can be done on the official site of London Eye.

If you buy tickets in advance, you will not have to stand in line for a long time. Keep in mind that on weekdays there are a lot of people who want to ride on the ferris wheel.

If you order your tickets online, you will buy them for 15% cheaper.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is one of London’s key squares. In its central part there is the Neilson Column.

In Trafalgar Square there are always a lot of tourists. There you and your child can relax, take a walk, and eat ice cream. And also look at the beautiful fountains.

Closer to the New Year in Trafalgar Square is placed a huge Christmas tree. Decorate it with garlands and balloons. They prepare the city for the New Year.

In the winter period here are organized fairs, dedicated to Christmas.

South Kensington Natural History Museum

London’s Natural History Museum will appeal even to kids who have no interest in nature. And those who don’t like going to museums.

An institution called South Kensington features amazing exhibits. They represent nature, and everything that goes with it. Not just flora, but fauna as well.

There are a lot of exhibits in the Museum of Natural History. Various exhibitions are regularly held here. They show ancient species of creatures that have ever lived on our planet. For example, exhibits with dinosaurs. They are made in the form of stuffed ancient creatures. And amaze children with their beauty and scale. Dinosaurs, presented in the Museum of Natural History, are tall. And the dimensions are as close to reality as possible.

If you want to experience unforgettable emotions together with your child, go to the Museum of Natural History at night. For the brave visitors there is a “night safari”. The cost of excursions at night will be more expensive.

St. Paul’s Cathedral

St. Paul’s Cathedral is also very popular with Londoners.

The building was erected in the early 17th century. However, in 1666 there was the Great Fire of London. The building was destroyed. It had to be rebuilt anew. Fortunately, the British authorities have coped with this task. And in the 21st century tourists can freely visit the Cathedral of St. Paul.

To buy tickets at a lower price, we recommend buying them on the website of the Cathedral. There you can order a tour for adults for 18 euros. And for children – for 9 euros.

In the ticket office of St. Paul’s Cathedral the cost of tickets is higher.

If you do not want to pay money to visit the institution, go with your child to the Millennium Bridge. It has a beautiful view of St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Tate Modern Gallery

The Tate Modern Gallery is located near the River Thames. It exhibits paintings by artists from all over the world. Both British and foreign artists.

Anyone can enter the gallery. You do not have to pay to visit. Entrance is free.

We recommend checking the official website of the gallery for information about opening hours.

Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre is popular with Londoners. At one time, William Shakespeare himself performed there.

Over the years, the Globe theater has changed its appearance. Employees of the institution carried out a reconstruction. And now the institution looks modern. The Globe theater has a wooden roof. It is open.

The cost of a tour to the Globe theater for adults is 16 euros. The ticket price for a child is 10 euros.

You can only visit the tour during the day. In the evenings there are theatrical performances.

Mary Axe Tower

Residents of London gave the Mary-Ax Tower a very funny nickname. They call it a cucumber.

Mary-Ax Tower is a large skyscraper. It is 180 meters tall.

There are no restaurants, attractions, or observation decks in the tower. It is rented out as offices for various companies.

From the street the Mary X Tower looks very beautiful. You can see it from almost any part of the city.
